“Single Hop Bomba Crop Citra” puts the spotlight on Citra, a hop cherished for its intensely fruity and citrus-forward character. This beer’s story also began in Yakima Valley, where we spent hours at Yakima Chief sniffing and sampling hops from various farms. The process required a lot of concentration (and perhaps a few sneezes), but it paid off when we selected Citra for its juicy grapefruit, lime, and tropical fruit notes. The real punchline, though, came at Seattle airport. When a border security officer asked why we were in the US, we explained we were there because Northwestern hops are the bomb. With a chuckle, he replied, “So y’all here for the bomba crop.” And we couldn’t resist making it the name! This single-hop IPA is a bright and juicy homage to Citra.
